Angel Pikula, RYT-200
Angel resides in Kaneohe and is eager to guide yoga practitioners from the community and around the island as they join her in making yoga a beneficial part of their lives. The first yoga class she attended in college was taught by an 80 year old woman. She was inspired by the vibrancy and happiness that the instructor attributed to a strong yoga practice and a healthy lifestyle. Since then Angel continued to practice yoga in the studio and at home until inevitably becoming a registered yoga teacher while studying with Murti Hower.
To complement the physical training that yoga provides she continuously studies healing with whole foods, nutrition, anatomy, kinesiology, spirituality, education, communication, and leadership. These experiences have supported a comprehensive understanding of health and happiness, and the development of the skills necessary to assist others in finding their own path to improved health.
As an instructor of yoga, Angel’s enthusiasm and allegiance towards maintaining a free spirit, perceptive mind, and healthy body radiate from all aspects of her life. She aspires to bring all of the tools she has attained along her personal path to share with others as they embark on a journey of their own through yoga.
Beyond yoga, Angel enjoys growing food and herbs organically, and processing whole foods into delicious unrefined treats. She also spends many hours sewing, making jewelry, photo journaling, and listening to a wide variety of music from around the world. Check the schedule and join her all levels yoga class!
Murti Hower, RYT 500 hr
Murti has been practicing Hatha Yoga since 1982 when he learned to teach yoga from the founder of Urban Yoga, Billy Porter. Murti participated in a two-year teacher’s training program through the Iyengar Association and has studied recently with B.K.S. Iyengar in Estes Park, Colorado. He continues to expand his teaching techniques through personal training and studies with world renowned yoga trainers Rodney Yee and Shiva Rea.
Murti discovered the healing power of yoga through personal experience by relieving his own chronic lower back pain. This inspired him to develop techniques that allow students to heal their bodies through yoga.
